Institute of Commercial Payments has been awarding the Certified Purchasing Card Professional (CPCP) credential since 2006 to Commercial Card and Payment professionals who have demonstrated a mastery of the body of knowledge in the specialized field of Purchasing Cards.

Application Deadlines and Testing Dates

  • Winter/Spring 2026: Submit your application by Jan 31, 2026, to test in Feb/Mar 2026
  • Summer 2026: Submit your application by May 31, 2026, to test in Jun/Jul 2026
  • Fall 2026: Submit your application by Sept 30, 2026, to test in Oct/Nov 2026



About the CPCP

Successful CPCPs have a minimum of two years of work experience, 15 points (which provide evidence of education, industry participation, professional development or continuing education) and obtain a passing score of 77 percent on the exam. Prepare for Exam

CPCP Recertification

Once obtained, the CPCP credential is valid for three years. After three years, you must recertify to maintain the credential. Learn more about maintaining your credential via points or retaking the exam, as well as submitting your recertification application.
